Fatality reported in Pike County, Missouri crash involving semi-truck

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a tragic accident occurred in Pike County, Missouri, on Wednesday evening. Regrettably, a man lost his life in a collision involving a semi-truck.

According to MSHP, the victim, who was a 64-year-old resident of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, has not been identified.

The accident occurred at approximately 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the southbound lanes of U.S. Route 61 near Pike County Road 53.

According to investigators, the semi-truck driver lost control and swerved off the right side of the road. The truck then crossed a gravel road and collided with a ditch. Although emergency personnel airlifted him to the hospital, he sadly passed away due to the injuries sustained in the accident.

The crash did not involve any other vehicles or individuals.

The crash is currently being investigated by MSHP Troop C, which is responsible for overseeing a significant portion of the St. Louis region.
