Worth County officials close Kuennen’s Quarry, Worth County Lake Park due to concerns about managing crowds

NORTHWOOD — Worth County officials today made the decision to temporarily close a pair of parks due to COVID-19 concerns.

A statement from the Worth County Conservation Board says they, along with the Board of Supervisors and other county agencies made the decision to close Kuennen’s Quarry and Worth County Lake Park.

The statement says the amount of park users has reached a point that is no longer safe for Conservation Board staff, deputies and first responders to manage.

The board says with the current CDC guidelines for the current COVID-19 situation, they feel that the crowds have gotten too large and at times too unruly.

They say they know the decision comes as a disappointment but they are looking out for the health and safety of the county’s communities.

The Conservation Board says if anyone has thoughts or ideas on how to better manage crowds, they are encouraged to reach out to any of the county’s departments.
