Winner of $2 million Powerball ticket sold in Forest City finally steps forward

FOREST CITY — We now know who won a $2 million Powerball-winning ticket last month in Forest City.

The Iowa Lottery announced on Monday that Tamara Sheehan has now claimed the prize, saying that she gathered details and made out a plan before stepping forward. Sheehan says she and her husband spent the time being quiet about winning and getting a lot of questions answered, specifically more on the financials and the taxes.

The $2 million ticket was purchased at the Casey’s at 1132 US Highway 69 South and was one number away from winning a $403.9 million jackpot in the October 10th drawing. The Casey’s store also received a $2000 bonus from the Iowa Lottery for selling the winning ticket.

Sheehan says she and her husband have plans for the winnings, including paying it forward by helping charities focused on issues near and dear to them. She says they also plan to invest and will take a couple of trips.
