TONIGHT:
AM-1300 KGLO — Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox — pre-game 6:00, first pitch 6:40

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Matt Wallner hit a two-run homer, Bailey Ober had a career-high 10 strikeouts and the Minnesota Twins beat the Chicago White Sox 4-0 on Tuesday night, as you heard on AM-1300 KGLO. Ober (2-3) threw a career-high 7 1/3 innings, allowing just two hits. Wallner, the rookie outfielder from nearby Forest Lake, hit a towering homer in the sixth inning. It was his second homer in his 11th career game and first at home. Jose Miranda added three hits for Minnesota. Lance Lynn (7-7) gave up four runs on 10 hits in five-plus innings for Chicago. White Sox interim manager Miguel Cairo was ejected following Wallner’s homer.

IOWA CITY — Iowa has fared well against highly ranked teams at home and the Hawkeyes will get another chance on Saturday by hosting 4th-ranked Michigan. Iowa has won five of its last six games at home against teams ranked in the top five and coach Kirk Ferentz says home field advantage is part of it.

Ferentz says teams like Michigan can strike with big plays in every phase and it takes a complete effort to have a chance.

Ferentz says while the Hawkeyes do not view this as a revenge game Michigan’s 42-3 win over the Hawkeyes in last year’s Big Ten Championship game is in hot rotation at the football facility.

Kickoff on Saturday is scheduled for 11 o’clock, with the pre-game at 9 o’clock on AM-1300 KGLO

AMES — Iowa State coach Matt Campbell says he is not surprised by the turnaround at Kansas. The Jayhawks are off to a 4-0 start, the most wins by a KU team since the 2009 squad finished 5-7.

The Jayhawks started 1-8 a year ago under coach Lance Leipold before posting a stunning victory at Texas late in the season.

Dual threat quarterback Jalon Daniels has 11 touchdown passes for the Jayhawks and has rushed for four others.

Kickoff on Saturday in Lawrence is scheduled for 2:30.
