Two-vehicle crash south of Rockwell kills Mason City man

ROCKWELL — A Mason City man is dead after a two-vehicle accident near Rockwell on Monday morning.

The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at the intersection of US Highway 65 and 105th Street at about 5:40 AM. A vehicle traveling northbound on US 65 driven by 21-year-old Exiquio Martinez of Hampton lost control due to slippery road conditions, sliding sideways across the center line and struck a vehicle traveling southbound on the highway driven by 61-year-old Timothy WIlmarth of Mason City.

Wilmarth was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Martinez and two other passengers in the vehicle were taken to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City with injuries.

The State Patrol says their investigation on the accident is ongoing.
