ANN ARBOR — Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh says Iowa’s style of defense dates back to the early 1980s when Phil Parker played for Norm Parker at Michigan State. The 4th-ranked Wolverines look to stay unbeaten on Saturday with a visit to Kinnick Stadium.

Harbaugh says the key against the Iowa defense is to limit mistakes.

The Hawkeye defense faces a huge challenge this week from running back Blake Corum, who averages more than seven yards a carry and has scored nine touchdowns. Harbaugh says Corum’s biggest strength is his ability to make defenders miss.

Kickoff on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium is scheduled for 11 o’clock, with the pre-game on AM-1300 KGLO starting at 9 o’clock.

CEDAR FALLS — The next month is a big opportunity for Northern Iowa. For the first time since 1992, the Panthers will play four straight home games, beginning with Saturday’s game against Indiana State. UNI is 1-3 after a 52-17 win at Western Illinois this past Saturday.

That’s UNI coach Mark Farley who says they are looking forward to the home stand.

Farley says the advantages of playing at home go beyond the crowd.

Indiana State is 2-1 on the season.

Farley says quarterback Theo Day continues to gain confidence. Day ranks ninth in the country in passing.

Kickoff at the UNI-Dome on Saturday is scheduled for 4 o’clock.
