TONIGHT:
AM-1300 KGLO — Minnesota Twins vs. Kansas City — pre-game 6:00, first pitch 6:40

IOWA CITY — It appears that Kirk Ferentz is sticking with Spencer Petras as his starting quarterback for the University of Iowa football team. Iowa released its depth chart on Monday afternoon, listing Petras as the starter. Petras has completed 45% of his passes in the first two games of the season, throwing for 92 yards on 12-of-26 passing in a loss to Iowa State back on Saturday. Ferentz had said after the loss that everything would be reassessed with the offense on Sunday, adding that the execution by the Hawkeye offense has made it difficult to completely evaluate Petras. Iowa’s offense is the worst in the country after two games, averaging only 158 yards per contest.

CEDAR FALLS — UNI coach Mark Farley says the Panthers need to get their defense fixed in a hurry. Off to an 0-2 start after a loss at North Dakota, the Panthers get ready to host 8th-ranked Sacramento State in their home opener on Saturday.

After giving up 582 yards of rushing in a loss at Air Force, the Panthers gave up 304 yards of passing at North Dakota.

Farley says pass defense must make significant progress this week.

Farley says it is small mistakes that are hurting the defense right now.

Kickoff at the UNI-Dome is scheduled for 4 o’clock Saturday afternoon.
