IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) – Nebraska will play at Iowa on the day after Thanksgiving, continuing a tradition that started when the Cornhuskers joined the Big Ten in 2011.

The Big Ten on Monday announced the game would be played Nov. 27 instead of Nov. 28. Kickoff time will be announced later.

In another schedule change, Iowa will play at Minnesota on Nov. 13, a Friday, instead of on Nov. 14.

This will mark the 31st straight season Nebraska has played on Black Friday, dating to the 1990 season. In addition to 10 matchups with Iowa, the Cornhuskers played Colorado for 15 straight seasons from 1996-2010 and met Oklahoma six consecutive years from 1990-95.

The Big Ten season opens Oct. 24 for the Hawkeyes with Iowa at Purdue.

AMES — Iowa State coach Matt Campbell is more focused on a bye week than where his team sits in the Big 12 race. The 20th ranked Cyclones are one of three remaining unbeatens in league play and next up visit seventh ranked Oklahoma State on October 24th.

Campbell says the key will be continued improvement.

Campbell says the postponement of this week’s game between Baylor and Oklahoma State shows how critical it is for players to remain healthy.

It is Iowa State’s second bye week of the season.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Twins shortstop Jorge Polanco is recovering from surgery on his right ankle for a second straight offseason. The Twins announced Monday that Polanco had a procedure last week to remove a mild bone spur and a small bone chip on the outside of the joint that went as planned. He had a similar cleanup operation about a year ago. Polanco will begin physical therapy next week, and the Twins said he’s expected to be ready when spring training starts in four months.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Wild have re-signed goalie Kaapo Kahkonen to a two-year contract to avoid salary arbitration. Kahkonen went 25-6-3 with seven shutouts in 34 games for Iowa of the AHL this season. He won the minor league’s award for the most outstanding goaltender. Kahkonen also went 3-1-1 in five starts for the Wild. Last week, the Wild traded goalie Devan Dubnyk to San Jose and signed goalie Cam Talbot to a three-year, $11 million contract. Kahkonen will enter training camp behind Talbot and Alex Stalock on the depth chart.
