Traffic Violation Leads to Arrest: Driver Accused of Hitting Police Vehicle in Wainscott

Hampton Bays Man Charged After Attempted Escape Leads to Collision with Police Vehicle

A Hampton Bays resident has been arrested following an incident on Town Line Road in Wainscott, where he allegedly attempted to flee a traffic stop and collided with a police patrol car.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on Wednesday when officers pulled over Hermino Gimenez for a traffic violation. During the stop, Gimenez reportedly refused to cooperate with questioning.

Police state that Gimenez reversed his vehicle, striking the front of a marked Southampton Town police car. Following the collision, he resisted attempts to be handcuffed by officers.

Gimenez is now facing multiple charges, including several traffic violations. Further details about the charges have not yet been disclosed.
