CEDAR RAPIDS — Osage fell to Western Christian of Hull in the Class 2A semifinal round of the state volleyball tournament on Wednesday. Western Christian took the first set 25-19, with the Green Devils taking set two 25-11, but Western Christian then took the third and fourth sets for the victory, 25-22 and 25-18. Claudia Aschenbrenner led the way for Osage with 17 kills and four digs. Osage ends their season with a 29-10 record. Western Christian improves to 40-5 and will face top-ranked Dike-New Hartford in today’s championship, as Dike-New Hartford swept Denver three sets to nothing.

IOWA CITY — The Iowa offense is keeping its nose to the grindstone as it prepares for a visit to Northwestern. Quarterback Spencer Petras is confident the offense will get things turned around.

Petras says the Hawkeyes need to clean up some small details.

Petras says they hope to follow the same script the 2019 Hawkeyes used.

Kickoff on Saturday is set for shortly after 6 o’clock with the pregame starting at 4 o’clock on AM-1300 KGLO

 

 

AMES — Iowa State tight end Charlie Kolar says the Cyclones have moved on and they are focused on this week’s game against Texas. Kolar was limited to one catch in a 39-31 loss at West Virginia.

Texas is 4-4 but Kolar says the Longhorns present a challenge.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Paul George had 32 points and eight assists, and Reggie Jackson scored a season-high 29 points as the Los Angeles Clippers found their shooting stroke in a 126-115 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. George shot 11 of 18, including 4 of 8 from long distance as Los Angeles had its best shooting night of the season and won its second straight game. The Clippers shot 60.3% from the field and made a season-high 21 3-pointers on 36 attempts. Anthony Edwards scored 29 points for Minnesota, which has lost four of five. Karl-Anthony Towns finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
