Texas Man Receives 17-Year Sentence for Fentanyl Sale Tied to Overdose Death

FORT WORTH, Texas — A 34-year-old man from Fort Worth has been sentenced to 17 years in federal prison after selling fentanyl to an 18-year-old girl who later died from an overdose.

Ladraelyn Bolar pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute fentanyl, as reported by the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas.

Bolar was charged in April and admitted to conspiring with others to distribute fentanyl, according to plea documents. On March 25, 2024, Bolar sold blue M-30 pills containing fentanyl to an undercover Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) agent.

The transaction took place in a Fort Worth parking lot, where Bolar sold 100 pills for $250, or $2.50 per pill. Later that same day, he offered a “k-pack” containing 1,000 pills, and the agent purchased 900 pills for $1,400, or approximately $1.55 per pill.

The investigation revealed that just five days prior to the undercover operation, a friend of the overdose victim had informed authorities that the pills had been purchased from Bolar.

The case was investigated by the ATF’s Dallas Field Division and the Fort Worth Police Department. The prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Levi Thomas, with assistance from Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn Smith.
