Suspended sentence for Mason City man after sexual abuse guilty plea

MASON CITY — It’s a suspended prison sentence and probation for a Mason City man after he pleaded guilty to a sexual abuse charge.

25-year-old Tavian Coleman was arrested in March after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female during November and December 2021. As part of the plea agreement, Coleman pleaded guilty to third-degree sexual abuse, a Class C felony punishable by up to ten years in prison.

As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors recommended a suspended ten year prison term along with a fine. District Judge Gregg Rosenbladt during sentencing this week agreed with the recommendation and placed Coleman on five years probation.
