A man who allegedly stole a FedEx truck early Thursday morning and led law enforcement on a chase from Quincy to south of Palmyra has now been officially charged.

Devon Wagner, a 26-year-old resident of Pittsfield, Illinois, is now being charged with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and aggravated fleeing a stop or detention.

Court documents reveal that Wagner drove west out of Quincy into Missouri and displayed a failure to maintain lanes. Shockingly, he even found himself driving in the wrong direction, heading south in the northbound lanes of Highway 61 for a short distance.

According to a deputy, the delivery truck caused several cars and trucks to swerve in order to avoid getting hit.

The chase with Wagner finally came to an end when he managed to enter the southbound lanes. The pursuit concluded in a parking lot roughly three miles south of Palmyra, where law enforcement apprehended the suspect.

Wagner is currently in custody with a cash-only bond set at $50,000.
