On Christmas Day in New York City, pedestrians were left injured when a yellow taxi unexpectedly veered onto the sidewalk and collided with them. A total of seven people were affected by the incident.

The Christmas chaos unfolded at the intersection of Avenue of Americas and West 34th Street, right in the heart of Herald Square, shortly after 4pm on Wednesday.

According to reports, the taxi driver allegedly experienced a potential medical episode just before crashing into pedestrians outside a Macy’s department store.

During the holiday season, the store’s intricately adorned display windows have a magnetic pull on both tourists and local New Yorkers.

According to The U.S. Sun, the New York City Police Department has confirmed that officers are currently responding to a situation involving “multiple injuries.”

Police and sources have reported that among the injured, there was a nine-year-old boy.

In the chaos, two women, aged 49, and four other women, aged 19, 37, and 41, were also injured.

Three individuals were transported to the hospital by the police due to their injuries. These included a 49-year-old woman with a leg injury, a nine-year-old boy with a cut, and a 41-year-old woman with a head injury.

The police reported that the remaining three pedestrians opted not to receive any medical assistance. Police stated that all injuries were non-life-threatening.

The outlet managed to obtain photos that revealed the taxi with multiple dents on its side and a completely torn-out front bumper.

According to the NYPD, the condition of all six victims is stable, although there is no information available regarding the condition of the taxi driver.

The police have not yet identified the driver involved in the incident and there have been no arrests or charges made at this time.

Investigation is ongoing at the crash site by law enforcement officials, who suspect that the incident was accidental.

Videos circulating on social media depicted a significant presence of firefighters at the location.

Herald Square, located in the bustling Midtown, is a lively and dynamic shopping district.

Macy’s flagship department store is located in this area, attracting thousands of tourists who come to admire the shop’s enchanting Christmas decorations.

Dean Moses, a reporter for amNewYork, captured video footage of the taxi cab that had “jumped the curb.”

Moses was informed by an eyewitness that even after coming to a halt, the wheels on the cab were still spinning.

The hood of the vehicle was raised, indicating visible signs of damage.
