Ribbon-cutting today for Scrip Road portion of Mason City’s Destination Iowa bike trail project

MASON CITY — A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place later this morning for a section of the city’s Destination Iowa bike trail project.
The Scrip Road Conversion Project was recently completed by Heartland Asphalt, turning the former road that ran along the Winnebago River between Illinois Avenue and Asbury Park into a trail.
City Administrator Aaron Burnett says despite being open for only a short period of time, it’s already getting a lot of use. “That is incredibly busy. It’s a beautiful section of our community, and exciting step forward in the Destination Iowa project as we continue to close out each step forward in completing that vision.”
The ribbon cutting will take place at 10 o’clock at the entry just east of Illinois Avenue.
