At 2:30 p.m., officers arrived to 124 West Third Street and discovered John “Johnny” Dominguez, 17, unresponsive inside an apartment after being shot in the torso, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez. Suarez said the boy was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

Dominguez’s family has created a fundraiser to cover the expenses of his funeral as he was tragically killed just a month before his 18th birthday. The fundraiser has already raised over $12,600 as of Thursday, July 25th.

Julius Dominguez, John’s brother, expressed his deep sorrow over the sudden and unexpected loss of his beloved brother, stating, “We are all devastated by this unexpected loss. Johnny was well known and greatly loved by everyone who knew him.”

According to Suarez, the teenager, who is 17 years old, has been accused of manslaughter and several weapons offenses as a juvenile.
