Abbotsford authorities are currently looking into a fatal stabbing incident that involved teenagers.
Responding to a call at Larch Park just past 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, the police discovered a teenage boy with severe injuries.
Despite attempts by onlookers and emergency responders, the boy succumbed to his wounds.
Two adolescents have been apprehended, with initial reports suggesting the attack was deliberate.
“We have three families grappling with immense changes in their lives, resulting in grief and turmoil, both from the victim’s family, understandably, and the families of the detained suspects,” stated Sgt. Paul Walker of the Abbotsford Police Department.
“Such incidents have profound repercussions on any community.”
No details about the victim have been disclosed by the authorities, but relatives have identified him as a 15-year-old boy.
The Abbotsford School District has acknowledged the incident and will supply support staff to the teen’s school.
“This is an unimaginable situation for these kids to deal with,” Walker remarked.
“They will have acquaintances and family members who know these kids. News will spread quickly.
“Kids react to such events, and there will be assistance available to them, both from law enforcement or victim services, and also, I presume, from the school district should any issues arise at school today and in the coming days.”
Individuals present near Larch Park on Sunday evening are urged to reach out to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
