Kansas Highway Patrol troopers have reported a significant increase in traffic violations and arrests during the Christmas holiday season.

According to officials, over 200 speeding tickets were issued and seven individuals were arrested for driving under the influence.

These numbers highlight the importance of safe driving practices and the need for increased vigilance on the roads during festive periods.

During the holiday period, which lasted from 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24th, to 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, December 25th, tragically, one individual lost their life in a non-DUI collision.

According to the report from the KHP, there was only one fatal crash during the holiday period, resulting in a single death related to traffic.

The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) has reported a decrease in the number of fatalities during the Christmas holiday period compared to previous years.

According to the KHP, only three people lost their lives in crashes this year, which is three fewer than the four reported in 2023 and one less than the two fatalities reported in 2022.

This decline in fatalities is a positive development and highlights the importance of safe driving during the holiday season.

During the recently concluded Christmas holiday travel period, the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) reported a decrease in the number of fatal crashes on the state’s highways.

According to the KHP, there was only one fatality crash this year, compared to four in 2023 and two in 2022. This decline in the number of fatal crashes is a positive development and indicates improved road safety during the holiday season.

According to the KHP’s report, there were 227 speeding tickets issued during this holiday travel period. This number is significantly lower compared to the 370 tickets issued in 2023 and the 416 tickets issued in 2022, showing a decrease of 143 and 189 respectively.

During the most recent holiday travel period, there were various reports regarding traffic violations and safety issues.

These reports included 309 speed warnings, 14 citations for not wearing adult seat belts, seven warnings for not wearing adult seat belts, two warnings for teenagers not wearing seat belts, and eight citations for improper child restraint.

During this year’s Christmas holiday travel period, the patrol provided assistance to 218 motorists. This figure is 231 fewer than the 449 assists provided last year in 2023, and 294 fewer than the 512 assists provided in 2022.
