When considering the CEO of an iGaming company, I do not fit the typical mold. I am younger than most in this role and a woman in a male-dominated field in Nigeria.
My path to this position was unconventional, much like many in the iGaming sector. Despite studying Industrial Chemistry and initially aiming for a brewery job, I transitioned to customer service in a sports betting firm after a brief telecom stint.
My career escalated swiftly from there. Joining Betwinner in 2020 as a team lead, I swiftly climbed the ranks and was appointed director in April 2021, becoming Nigeria’s youngest iGaming director.
Being a female director was a daunting challenge, but one I embraced. I now feel a deep responsibility to mentor young women seeking to make their mark in this industry, shaping Nigeria’s iGaming sector’s future.
Sustained Growth and iGaming in Africa
I have always advocated for continuous learning and personal growth. I earned my MBA from Nexford University in 2023, underscoring my commitment to professional development.
Prior to iGaming, my background was in chemistry, showcasing the industry’s diversity. I aspire to show other women the dynamic nature of iGaming and how their unique skills and backgrounds can thrive here.
My vision goes beyond fostering innovation to promoting ethical practices and industry compliance. A safe iGaming environment prioritizing players’ well-being is crucial for Africa’s prosperity.
At Betwinners, I played a key role in steering the company towards these objectives, fostering a supportive culture where our team can excel and solidifying our position in Nigeria’s market.
A Rising Force
The African sports betting market has global significance, and I aim to lead the charge. Leveraging new technologies like AI, we personalize the betting experience, shaping industry trends.
Nigeria, with its rich sports culture and fast-growing economy, can play a pivotal role. The potential here is vast, and I am confident in our ability to make a global impact.
To nurture progress, we must empower young talents, particularly women, across Africa. Women here can shape the future of sports betting and iGaming. Through mentorship, I aim to drive industry evolution and broader societal change.
As a mentor, I support Women in Gaming Africa, an initiative championed by Lois Bright. This platform unites innovative female minds, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Embracing Diverse Perspectives
iGaming champions individual voices and viewpoints, allowing for risk-taking and growth. In this sector, women are actively working to amplify their voices, celebrate victories, and support one another, creating an inclusive and empowering environment.
