Mayor of Louisiana addresses arrest of officer, emphasizes commitment to transparency

Louisiana, Mo. (KHQA) — Today, December 12th, Mayor Tim Carter released a statement addressing the arrest of Louisiana Police Officer Daylon Green in relation to two ongoing investigations.

The City of Louisiana and its Police Department acted promptly and decisively upon hearing these allegations in order to ensure a thorough investigation by external agencies. Right from the start, we collaborated with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, ensuring an impartial and integrity-driven investigation process.

The City of Louisiana prioritizes the safety and trust of its citizens above all else. We find these allegations deeply disappointing as they go against our values and the high standards of professionalism we expect from all City employees, especially those responsible for enforcing the law.

Officer Green faces several charges, which include Class D Felonies for stealing a firearm and selling a service rifle that was issued by the department without authorization. Additionally, there are charges related to property damage and false reporting in a separate incident involving a patrol car in Louisiana.

These charges carry significant weight, and the City is committed to fully cooperating with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the Pike County Prosecuting Attorney as the legal proceedings progress.

The City is dedicated to transparency and accountability. Although this situation is deeply troubling, we want to reassure our residents that the City has taken all the necessary measures to address these incidents correctly and in accordance with the law.

“At this time, the City is unable to provide further comments due to the ongoing legal matter. However, our commitment remains steadfast in earning and preserving the trust of our community. We will persevere in our efforts to safeguard the integrity of our Police Department and prioritize the safety of our citizens.”

Officer Green is currently in custody at the Marion County Jail, with a cash-only bond set at $50,000. He is set to make an appearance in Pike County Court on Monday, December 16, 2024.
