Mason City wrestling legend Eddie Kline dies at age 85

MASON CITY — Mason City High School Athletic Hall of Famer Eddie Kline has died. The 1953 graduate was a three-time state wrestling champion who compiled a 58-1 record with 39 pins in those three seasons. Kline was inducted into the Iowa High School Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1979, was honored with a Mason City High School Distinguished Alumni Award in 2000, was honored with Eddie Kline Day in Mason City on September 6th 2013, and was inducted into the Mason City High School Athletic Hall of Fame’s first class in 2014. Kline worked as a custodian in the Mason City school district for 38 years, retiring in 1994. Kline died earlier today at the age of 85.
