Mason City woman charged with having drug contraband in jail
MASON CITY — A Mason City woman arrested for shoplifting faces additional charges after allegedly having drug contraband while inside the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
31-year-old Moriah Villarreal was arrested on Wednesday after being accused of stealing about $600 worth of items from Menards in Mason City. A correctional officer says they seized a bag containing ten hypodermic syringes that contained methamphetamine residue while Villarreal was changing into a jail uniform. Court documents state that she failed to report that she had the items in her possession.
Besides the fourth-degree theft charge for shoplifting, Villarreal was charged with possession of contraband in a correctional facility, a Class D felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She’s being held in jail on a total of $6300 bond.
