Mason City police investigate pair of shooting incidents from over the weekend

MASON CITY — Mason City police are investigating a pair of shooting incidents from over the weekend.

Police Chief Jeff Brinkley says the first happened at about 3:10 Saturday morning in the 100 block of 3rd Northwest. In this incident, a male approached three people in the alley prior to the shooting, with shots being fired as others fled. No one was injured and no property damage was found.

The second shooting happened just before 4 o’clock Saturday afternoon in the 900 or 1000 block of North Pennsylvania, where two vehicles traveling northbound exchanged gunfire. Several residents in the area reported seeing the incident, although neither party has yet to contact police. Nobody was injured and no property damage was reported.

Evidence was gathered from both incidents and police at this time do not believe there’s an ongoing threat to the community.
