Mason City man wins $50K lottery prize for second time in five years
MASON CITY — For the second time in five years, a Mason City man has won a $50,000 Iowa Lottery prize. 64-year-old David Paulson won the first top prize in the lottery’s “20X Cash” scratch game. He bought his winning ticket at the YesWay store at 1920 South Federal.
Paulson says at the time he scratched off the ticket, he was shocked to be a big winner once again. “I really can’t believe that I just did it again, I mean I didn’t think I ever would, but that’s why we play I guess.”
The “20X Cash” game just started sales on July 7th and Paulson says he started playing the game on the recommendation of the store clerk. “Pretty much basically right when it started, one of the ladies at the station, she says ‘oh, this here’s a new one and I think it’s really good’. She said she had a lot of reports from a lot of people winning the five times or ten times, so I said ok and I’ve been doing it ever since.”
Paulson says he’s already made up his mind what he’s going to do with his winnings. “I’m going to pay off some bills and then put the rest in the bank and go on a vacation at the end of the summer.”
The 20X Cash game is a $5 scratch game that features eight top prizes of $50,000 and overall odds of 1 in 3.40.
