Mason City man charged with willful injury after attack at house

MASON CITY — A Mason City man is in jail on a willful injury charge.
A criminal complaint accuses 31-year-old Jorge Rivera of entering a Mason City home in the early morning hours of September 1st with a crowbar using it to strike a victim multiple times. The victim’s left arm was split open with the bone being broken. Rivera is also accused of hitting the victim in the left side of the hip, splitting it open, as well as in the foot, which was also broken.
Rivera has been charged with willful injury causing serious injury, a Class C felony punishable by up to ten years in prison. He’s being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a total of $20,000 cash-only bond.
