Mason City man arrested for sexual abuse returned to Iowa from Minnesota
MASON CITY — A Mason City man arrested for sexual abuse has been extradited back to Iowa.
35-year-old Nathaniel Pearce was arrested in Shakopee Minnesota on Thursday after being wanted by authorities for two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child. Mason City police say they were called on May 5th to do a welfare check on a child at a home, with the Iowa Department of Human Services being called in to assist. A criminal investigation led to a warrant being issued for Pearce’s arrest.
Pearce was taken from the Scott County Jail in Minnesota late Friday and was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail where he’s being held on $50,000 cash-only bond.
Continuous sexual abuse of a child is a Class B felony, with each charge punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
