Mason City council to consider contract for Fire Department remodeling project

MASON CITY — The City Council in Mason City tonight will consider awarding a contract for remodeling the city’s Fire Department.

The project includes various improvements including the addition of an 18-room dormitory, officer’s quarters and a meeting room. Other items included in the project include roof replacement, tuckpointing, window replacement, and several HVAC improvements.

Four bids were received for the project, with the lowest being from Henkel Construction of Mason City for $4,786,000. The engineer’s estimated cost of construction was $5,850,000.

The council meets at 7 o’clock tonight in the Mason City Room of the Public Library.
