OSAGE — A Fort Dodge man has been jailed in Mitchell County after allegedly stealing a truck and leading authorities on a high speed pursuit.
36-year-old Benjamin Foster is accused of being found in a pickup parked in the road at the intersection of State Highway 9 and Dancer Avenue at about 2 o’clock Wednesday morning. When authorities engaged their emergency lights, Foster, who was reportedly reclined in the driver’s seat, took off at a high rate of speed.
After reaching 98 miles per hour, authorities say he was going 70 miles per hour when he entered the Osage city limits. Authorities say Foster nearly struck a house and attempted to flee on foot in the 900 block of Chesnut Avenue.
Authorities say Foster had a blood alcohol content of .114, above the legal limit of .08. he was charged with felony eluding, third-degree burglary and second-offense OWI.
