Man Indicted for Brutal Harlem Subway Attack on Ex-Girlfriend

Man Indicted for Slashing Ex-Girlfriend and Pushing Her onto Harlem Subway Tracks

MANHATTAN, NY — A Manhattan grand jury has indicted Michael Blount, 29, on charges of slashing his ex-girlfriend and pushing her onto subway tracks in Harlem last fall, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced Thursday.

The incident occurred on November 5, around 11 p.m., when Blount allegedly followed his ex-girlfriend and her two teenage daughters into a Harlem deli after repeatedly harassing her by phone, prosecutors said. According to the indictment, Blount purchased a single razor blade before trailing the family to the southbound platform of the A train station at West 125th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue.

Law enforcement sources allege Blount grabbed the woman by her hair and slashed her neck while her daughters looked on in horror. Despite fighting back, the victim sustained multiple slash wounds to her face.

The attack escalated as Blount reportedly shoved her onto the subway tracks. Her daughters managed to pull her to safety just minutes before a train arrived at the station.

The victim later underwent plastic surgery for her injuries.

Prosecutor Condemns Brutal Attack

“As alleged, Michael Blount brutally slashed his ex-girlfriend before pushing her onto the train tracks in front of her teenage daughters,” DA Bragg said. “Despite what must have been a terrifying attack, one of her daughters was able to pull her mother from the tracks, likely saving her life.”

Continued Harassment and Arrest

Following the attack, Blount allegedly continued to harass the victim and her daughters through phone calls and text messages, authorities said. After an investigation, police arrested him on December 24.

Blount now faces attempted murder charges, along with other related offenses.

Support for Domestic Violence Victims

District Attorney Bragg urged anyone experiencing domestic violence to seek help by contacting his office at 212-335-4308.
