Man arrested for attempted murder in Forest City case

FOREST CITY — A Forest City man has been arrested on a charge of attempted murder.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety says the Forest City Police Department began an investigation on February 12th into a shooting incident in the 100 block of North 4th Street that had occurred on February 10th but was not reported to police until February 12th. The Forest City Police Department requested the assistance of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation to help investigate the case.

30-year-old Jose Alberto Carrera Patino was arrested in the early morning hours of February 13th and was charged with attempted murder and going armed with intent. A criminal complaint filed in Winnebago County District Court says a victim told authorities that he had been shot at about three times. Officers found three bullet marks on the east side of a brick wall of an apartment complex the victim resided in. The victim was not injured. The victim said he and Patino had a previous feud for at least a year involving a mutual girlfriend.
