Ice Storm Warning now ending at noon for most of listening area, Winter Weather Advisory noon today-noon Wednesday

Freezing rain continues over portions of northwest into north central Iowa this morning with precipitation expected to become lighter and end or change to rain in many areas into this afternoon. However, another round of wintry mix followed by widespread light to moderate snow is expected tonight through Wednesday. Significant icingĀ  accumulations are possible resulting in isolated power outages and difficult to treacherous travel conditions, especially on untreated roads.

* WHAT…For the Ice Storm Warning, significant icing possible. Additional ice accumulations of up to around a tenth of an inch. For the Winter Weather Advisory, mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 3 inches and ice accumulations of a glaze. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph at times.

 

* WHERE…Portions of northwest and northern Iowa.

 

* WHEN…For the Ice Storm Warning, until noon CST today. For the Winter Weather Advisory, from noon today to noon CST Wednesday.

 

* IMPACTS…Isolated power outages and tree damage remain possible. Travel could be treacherous at times, including the morning commute.
