Good afternoon, everyone. We continue to see a strong cold front approach northern Florida, bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms. Locally heavy rain with thunder rumbles is moving swiftly from west to east, soaking areas spanning from Cedar Key, FL, to Jacksonville.
The forecast predicts unseasonably cold weather to arrive overnight across much of the Southeast, Gulf Coast, and north Florida. Temperatures in the low to mid 30s have dropped low enough that the National Weather Service has issued frost advisories and freeze warnings for most of the Florida panhandle and north Florida overnight tonight and tomorrow morning.
Frost and freeze warnings/watches are in effect for sections of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and the southeast corner of North Carolina. We predict temperatures in these places to drop below freezing overnight tonight and early tomorrow.
Overall, a chilly pattern is developing over the next few weeks, with reinforcements of unseasonably cold, arctic air expected throughout mid-December. During this time, we could expect more snow in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
