Hattiesburg Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash on US 49

A Hattiesburg man was killed in a single-vehicle accident in Forrest County early Sunday morning.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop J Public Affairs Officer Taylor Shows reported that troopers responded to the scene of the crash on U.S. Highway 49 around 3 a.m.

The crash involved a 2018 Nissan Altima, driven by 23-year-old Jayden Drummond, who was traveling north when the vehicle veered off the road and collided with a tree.

Drummond sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
