Haley says it’s time to crack down on Mexican border crossings

SHEFFIELD — New data suggests that crossings at the United States’ southern border with Mexico have hit new highs in the last four months.
GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley says it’s time to crack down on illegal immigration. “We’ll make sure that any person that’s hired in America, we’ll do a national e-verify program, every business will have to prove that these people are in our country legally. We will go and put 25,000 border patrol and ICE agents on the ground and let them do their job. We will go back to the ‘remain in Mexico’ policy so that they never even come into the states to start with. And instead of catch and release, we’ll go to catch and deport. That’s how we’ll stop the bleeding that’s happening on the border.”
Haley says no one knows the intent of many illegal immigrants trying to come to this country, especially from non-Mexican countries. “Right now, we know 1000 illegal immigrants have come from Iran, Lebanon and Yemen. That doesn’t even count Afghanistan.”
Haley made her comments during a recent campaign appearance in Sheffield.
