FOREST CITY — Clear Lake travels to Forest City for a Class 2A District 3 football contest tonight. The Lions have posted back-to-back shutouts to start district play. Coach Jared DeVries says the defense has made it a priority to step up their game through district competition.

DeVries says the multi-dimensional offense the Lions have been able to play means teams have been trying to throw all sorts of different defensive schemes against them.

Forest City comes in with a 2-4 overall record and are 1-1 in the district after beating Hampton-Dumont-CAL last week. You can hear the Clear Lake-Forest City game on AM-1490 & 96.7-FM KRIB and kribam.com starting with the pre-game at about 6:45, with kickoff slated for 7:30.

DES MOINES — Mason City hits the road to face Des Moines East in Class 4A District 6 tonight. The Mohawks are 0-6 and face a 1-5 East team that has lost four straight, being outscored 165-28 in games against Des Moines Roosevelt, #7 Southeast Polk, Johnston, and #9 Waukee. You can hear the Mason City-Des Moines East game on AM-1300 KGLO and kgloam.com starting with the pre-game at about 6:30 with kickoff slated for 7 o’clock.

MASON CITY — Newman steps outside of district play when they host 5th-ranked Grundy Center tonight. The Knights are 2-4 after being edged by Postville last week on the road. Grundy Center suffered their first loss of the season last week at home, dropping a 14-13 decision to 3rd-ranked North Tama. You can hear the Newman-Grundy Center game on 93.9 KIA The Country Moose and 939kia.com starting with the pre-game at 6:45, with kickoff slated for 7 o’clock.
