IOWA CITY — For the second time this season Northwestern got the best of the Iowa women. The 23rd-ranked Wildcats handed the Hawkeyes their second home loss 87-80 on Thursday evening, as you heard on AM-1300 KGLO. Iowa coach Lisa Bluder was not happy with the free throw disparity.

Like the first meeting with the Wildcats turnovers hurt the Hawkeyes.

Monica Czinano  had a career high 34 points to lead the Hawkeyes who fall to 5-4 in the Big Ten and 9-4 overall. They visit Minnesota Sunday.

MANHATTAN, Kansas – Ashley Joens’ layup with 34 seconds remaining gave Iowa State the lead for good in a 62-60 win at Kansas State. It was career victory number 700 for Cyclone coach Bill Fennelly.

Fennelly on reaching the milestone.

Iowa State is now 11-5 overall and 7-2 in the Big 12 and will host Baylor on Sunday

IOWA CITY — The 7th-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes look to maintain sole possession of second place in the Big Ten tonight with a visit to 19th-ranked Illinois. These two teams hooked up in a pair of emotional and hard fought games last season.

That’s Iowa coach Fran McCaffery who was asked about the rivalry between these two teams.

Tipoff is scheduled for 8 o’clock tonight, with the pre-game at 7 o’clock on AM-1300 KGLO.
