CLEAR LAKE — #3/2A Clear Lake opens up the football season hosting Osage at Lions Field tonight. The Lions are coming off a 7-2 season in which they narrowly missed a spot in the playoffs. Coach Jared DeVries says despite losing some key players, there are a number of returning starters ready to step up.

DeVries says despite some key losses, the offensive line should be a big part to the success of this season

Last year Clear Lake held off a late rally to beat Osage 55-40 and DeVries expects another tough challenge from the Green Devils.

Kickoff at Lions Field is scheduled for 7:30 tonight, with the pre-game at 6:45 on AM-1490 & 96.7-FM KRIB and kribam.com

FORT DODGE — The Brandon Krusey era starts tonight for the Mason City High School football program as the Mohawks travel to Fort Dodge in the annual battle for the Decker Sports Trophy. Krusey comes to Mason City with an 84-70 coaching record with stops at Davenport North, North Tama, Grundy Center and Independence. He says everyplace has its own unique kind of way things work, but the plan he’s put in place is very similar to what he’s done in the past.

Krusey says his players have put in a lot of hard work on the practice field.

The Mohawks have never beaten Fort Dodge since the Decker Trophy became part of the rivalry. Krusey says he’s looking forward to experiencing the Mason City-Fort Dodge rivalry.

Kickoff at Dodger Stadium is scheduled for 7 o’clock. You can hear the game on AM-1300 KGLO and kgloam.com starting with the pre-game shortly after 6:30.
