First Monday Powerball drawing was last night
CLIVE — The first Monday night drawing for the Powerball lottery game was last night.
Iowa Lottery spokeswoman Mary Neubauer said when the third drawing was announced in May that it is a response to players. “Players are looking for bigger, faster-growing jackpots in games like Powerball and MegaMillions. And so, the change in Powerball is designed to help deliver those bigger, faster-growing jackpots,” she said.
The odds of winning won’t change. “It does not change the rest of the specifics in the game. So, prize levels are staying the same, the odds of winning, the ticket price, are all the same,” Neubauer said.
Monday drawings will continue along with the Wednesday and Saturday Powerball drawings. All drawings happen at 9:59 p-m on the drawing day. Tickets may be purchased until 8:59 p-m on the day of the drawing.
The estimated jackpot for last night’s drawing was $293 million.
