Fire damages Mason City home

MASON CITY — Nobody was injured after a house fire in southwestern Mason City over the weekend.

The Mason City Fire Department says they were called shortly before 9 o’clock on Saturday morning to 205 28th Street Southwest, where on arrival they found the occupants outside the house with smoke showing from the attic vents. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire from the interior of the house as the fire was contained to the attic. There was smoke and water damage to the living room and bedrooms of the house.

The Fire Department says the cause of the fire was accidental and electrical in nature. Firefighters were on the scene for about three hours.
