FBI hopes new photo will assist identify girl discarded along I-45 in 2016

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI have released a new facial reconstruction image in the hopes of identifying a child’s remains discovered on the side of the road in Madisonville in 2016.

On September 17, 2016, authorities discovered the girl, nicknamed “Baby Madison,” off Interstate 45. They wrapped her body in a trash bag and placed it in a black suitcase.

According to Sgt. Chelsea Stanford of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, tests have shown that the girl is between the ages of two and five. The bag contained a long-sleeved pink garment manufactured by “Mon Petit” in a size 4T, in addition to her remains. She was also wearing size 4 diapers.

We found a feeding tube in the bag, indicating that she likely required specialist medical attention.

Investigators said Thursday that genetic research on her remains revealed she most likely had ancestors from El Salvador and Nuevo Leon in Mexico. Her hair, believed to be long and thick, was black.

Initially, scientists suspected that “Baby Madison” had the medical ailment micrognathia, which causes the lower jaw to be smaller than usual. Scientists now believe that “Baby Madison” did not suffer from the disease that caused her altered facial appearance.

Supervisory Special Agent Charlie Wilks from the FBI Houston office has stated that the circumstances surrounding her death remain unknown. It is currently uncertain whether her demise took place in Texas or elsewhere.

Throughout their investigation, authorities have received numerous tips, some of which pointed to Arizona. However, they have been able to rule out Arizona as a possible location.

The remains of Baby Madison are still at the medical examiner’s office, where efforts are being made to identify her.

If you possess any information regarding the identity of “Baby Madison,” kindly contact the Madison County Sheriff’s Office at 936-348-2755.
