Early-season snowstorm dumps 61 cm (2 ft) of snow across northeastern U.S.

Between November 20 and November 23, an early-season snowstorm impacted the Central and Northern Appalachians, resulting in snowfall totals of 30 – 61 cm (1 – 2 ft) in the higher altitudes of West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, and northern New Jersey over three days.

Tyrone received a total of 63.5 cm (25 inches) of snow, Paupack received 53.3 cm (21 inches), and Bear Creek received 50.8 cm (20 inches). New Jersey’s High Point recorded 50.8 cm (20 inches) of snow.

Tannersville in New York recorded 47.2 cm (18.6 inches) of snow, while Franklin had 43.4 cm (17.1 inches). Hightown, Virginia, recorded 41.9 cm (16.5 inches) of snow, while Grantsville, Maryland, recorded 38.4 cm (15.1 inches).

Thomas in West Virginia recorded 38.1 cm (15 inches) of snow, Roan Mountain in Tennessee 20.3 cm (8 inches), and Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina 17.8 cm (7 inches).
