Deadline this week for those wanted to run for Auditor in Cerro Gordo County

MASON CITY — This Friday is the deadline for candidates to file nomination papers for the April 10th special election in Cerro Gordo County for County Auditor.

The Auditor’s position has been vacant since Ken Kline accepted a position as Deputy Commissioner of Elections with the Iowa Secretary of State’s office. Only one person is currently on the ballot.

Riley Dirksen was nominated for the position by the Cerro Gordo County Democratic Party.

Nomination forms and information about signature and filing requirements are available on the Cerro Gordo County website at and at the county auditor’s office.

In addition to the special election for County Auditor, voters on April 10th in the unincorporated areas of the county will be voting on a 7-percent hotel/motel tax.
