Correctional Officer On Administrative Leave Apprehended

An officer who was put on administrative leave has been arrested. The officer in question is a correctional officer.

On Sunday, the Illinois Department of Corrections officer who was put on administrative leave was taken into custody.

At the age of 37, Thomas R. Angeli is being charged with the possession of a firearm and an expired FOID card.

Angeli was placed on administrative leave on July 25 due to comments made on a Facebook post.

The Department has been made aware of social media posting on Facebook made earlier today. The Department is conducting an internal investigation. CO Angeli has been advised of his administrative leave, effective immediately.

The Illinois Department of Corrections is a multicultural agency deeply committed to ensuring diversity, equality, and inclusion. We want to be clear: the comments made by this individual do not reflect the principles and standards of the Department.
