After a fire in the Roselawn Terrace Apartments about 30 people are displaced and need assistance from the community.

To support the victims, you can visit the Oktibbeha County Emergency Management Facebook page and make a donation.

The community of Starkville is rallying together to support individuals who have been displaced from their homes. However, there is still a need for additional assistance.

Firefighters discovered a fire inside one of the walls of the building at Roselawn Terrace Apartments last Thursday.

The electrical system sustained severe damage. Around half of the residents were forced to seek alternative housing due to this situation.

The fire victims have received donations of food, clothes, money, and toys. Currently, there are several individuals who are residing in a hotel.

Various organizations and community members in Oktibbeha County are coming together to provide assistance. The Oktibbeha County EMA, OSERVS, the Starkville Community Foundation, Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office, Lutheran Disaster Services, Starkville Rotary, Starkville Episcopal Church, The American Red Cross, Starkville Utilities, LaQuinta in Starkville, and local residents are joining forces to offer their support.

Funding for twelve hotel rooms for victims will be available until Friday.

Volunteers understand that additional funds will be necessary to provide support to these families in the coming weeks.

According to Kristen Campanella, the director of Oktibbeha County Emergency Management, the community has suffered a devastating loss. However, she emphasizes that volunteer organizations are the bedrock of the community.

Campanella expressed deep sadness, saying, “It’s heart-wrenching. I can only imagine how devastating it must be for the residents who had already bought their holiday items. Some of the affected apartments even had Christmas trees up and gifts wrapped. Our community relies heavily on volunteer organizations, as they are the backbone of our community. Their contributions make all of this possible.”
