Code Red alert issued after disturbance in southeast Mason City neighborhood

MASON CITY — A disturbance on Friday night in southeastern Mason City led authorities to issue an alert for residents in the area.

The Mason City Police Department says they were called at about 7:35 PM to the 800 block of 6th Southeast, where on arrival they found a person inside may have a gun and was making threats.

The police issued a “Code Red” warning to residents in the neighborhood about the potential threat and to stay inside. The person came out of the house without incident about a hour after the initial call to authorities.

No charges have been filed as of last check, but the investigation is ongoing.
