Clear Lake moving forward with Earth Day, other events this spring and summer
CLEAR LAKE — Clear Lake’s Chamber of Commerce president says they are moving forward with plans for a big event this spring as the pandemic potentially winds down.
Stacy Doughan says Earth Day activities will be taking place this year between April 17th and the 24th. “The race is on the 17th, and then we’ll be opening up for Trash Bash that entire week. If you have an organization that would like to help get Clear Lake cleaned up, you can sign up for a spot on the Earth Day Clear Lake website.”
Doughan says when it comes to the other activities planned for a typical Clear Lake summer, they’ll continue tracking what’s happening with coronavirus activity in the region. “We are cautiously moving forward with all of our other activities this summer and keeping an eye on the pandemic situation. As people are vaccinated, we’re very optimistic and hopeful we’ll be able to move forward with events as planned.”
While Doughan made her comments at this week’s Clear Lake City Council meeting, one event that’s taken place in Clear Lake since 2004 will not be returning. Organizers for the “Bicycle, Blues & BBQ Festival” announced on social media that they have decided to bring the event to a close.
