Clear Lake firefighters battle two separate blazes overnight

CLEAR LAKE — The Clear Lake Fire Department had to respond to two rural structure fires overnight.

The first call came shortly before midnight to 7442 Balsam Avenue south of Ventura for a reported structure fire in a shop building owned by Paul and Danika Buckley. The Ventura Fire Department provided manpower and water hauling assistance in helping to extinguish the fire.

The second call came an hour later to 11108 285th Street northeast of Clear Lake. That fire involved a repair shop, a hay storage barn that contained 10 separate cars, and a small storage building. Since they were still at the first fire, the Clear Lake Fire Department requested mutual aid from the Mason City Fire Department to help respond to the fire, with fire departments from Manly, Plymouth and Hanlontown assisting with water hauling assistance.

Multiple other buildings on the property owned by Sally Levad were threatened but firefighters were able to contain the fire to the initial structures involved.

No injuries from either fire were reported.
