Clear Lake council to look at budget tonight

CLEAR LAKE — The Clear Lake City Council tonight will hold a public hearing as part of adopting the Maximum Property Tax Dollars Resolution, as well as adopt a preliminary budget for Fiscal Year 2023.

he proposed tax rate for the City of Clear Lake for the fiscal year that starts on July 1st is proposed to remain unchanged from the current fiscal year rate of $9.70 per $1000 of taxable valuation. The city’s share of the tax rate has either declined or remained constant without an increase for the last seven years.

The proposed budget reflects $19.4 million of expenditures, including $10.5 million toward operations and maintenance; $8 million toward capital; and roughly $850,000 to debt service. The council at their March 21st meeting will conduct the public hearing to adopt the Fiscal Year 2023 budget.

The council meets at 6 o’clock tonight at City Hall.
