CLEAR LAKE — Clear Lake’s City Council tonight will consider the first reading of a rezoning ordinance for the proposed Emerald Edge subdivision apartment project.
At a special council meeting in late November, the council referred a proposal to rezone about an eight-acre parcel of property located in the subdivision to the Planning & Zoning Commission for review and recommendation. The rezoning would be necessary to enable the construction of a new 90-plus unit, market rate apartment project.
The project also requires a height variance from the city’s Board of Adjustment at a future date.
The council in late December took the initial steps to implement an urban revitalization plan that would provide certain tax incentives to offset the property taxes on the project for a period of ten years.
The council meets tonight at 6 o’clock at City Hall.
