Clear Lake council to consider change order on seawall project

CLEAR LAKE — The Clear Lake City Council tonight will consider a change order for the seawall restoration project.

TNT Tuckpointing & Building Restoration of Stockton in eastern Iowa started work on the project last week, making repairs such as chipped stones and mortar to the seawall, which was constructed in 1936.

According to a field observation report made last week by RDG Design of Des Moines, who the city chose last year to assess the work that needed to be done on the project, a discussion was held with city officials on considering increasing the mortar replacement to 100% throughout the project, as well as putting a blank plate at the existing light fixture locations.

The council is considering a change order that would increase the price of the project by $39,000 to a total of $225,930, which is still less than the original estimated cost of the project of $250,000.  TNT hopes to have the project completed around Memorial Day.

The council meets tonight at 6 o’clock at Clear Lake City Hall.
